It can sometimes be hard to determine which colours and pattern you want for your browband.  Especially as a well designed browband can complete your horses appearance.  A good browband will not only complete your professional appearance but will also show your individual taste and personality.

Remember - Simple is better, to many colours can be unkind on the eye and a busy pattern on a small fine pony can look to busy.

So here are a few things to think about when choosing colours and a pattern for your browband.

1.    Think about what colours look best on your horse, take into account your horse's appearance and coat;
2.    Look at the colour of your jacket, vest and the main colour in your tie.  By using one of these colours the browband will
       compliment your clothing;
3.    Think about using contrasting colours, metallics or diamontes to give your browband a lift or to add some life;
4.    If you have a small pony don't use to many colours and keep to a simple pattern as this won't take away from your
       horse; and
5.    Rosettes and flags can be resized to suit your horse.  Generally rosettes are 6cm in diametre with flags 9cm long.
       The angled flags are 5cm at their widest point.

Taking Care of your Browband

1.    Make sure you only handle it with clean hands and use it on a clean horse, as stains can be very difficult to remove;
2.    Don't use bleach as you may remove the colour out of the ribbon.  Instead gently sponge the spot with a slightly damp
       colour free cloth and a little bit of 'sard wonder soap' and leave it to dry;
3.    Don't leave your horse tie up and unattended as this can be he quickest way to losing a button and diamontes;and
4.    Store your browband in a clean, dust free place such as a shoebox and if possible take it off your bridle.  To keep the
       dust off it wrap it with cling wrap or with a soft clean cloth (just be careful of the points on a star rosette).
